April 28, 2025 Dear Palmview High School Parents and Guardians, Today, at approximately 3:51 PM, Palmview High School was placed on lockdown after an initial report of a possible weapon on campus. A student reported seeing an individual pull a large object from their pocket, which raised concern. The student immediately notified a teacher, who then promptly reported the concern to campus administration. Following our established safety protocols, a coordinated response was initiated. The individual in question was quickly located, and upon a thorough search, it was determined that the object was not a weapon, but rather a large wallet. All safety procedures were followed throughout the incident to ensure the well-being of our students and staff. Out of an abundance of caution, our neighboring campus, Lloyd M. Bentsen Elementary, was placed on a Secure status during this time. The lockdown at Palmview High School and the Secure status at Lloyd M. Bentsen Elementary were both lifted at 4:52 PM after it was confirmed there was no threat to any of the two campuses. We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding as we take every safety report seriously. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we are proud of the swift actions taken by our students, staff, administration and law enforcement today. Un estudiante informó haber visto a una persona sacar un objeto grande de su bolsillo, lo que generó preocupación. El estudiante notificó de inmediato a un maestro, quien a su vez reportó la situación a la administración escolar. Siguiendo nuestros protocolos de seguridad establecidos, se inició una respuesta coordinada. La persona en cuestión fue localizada rápidamente y, tras una revisión exhaustiva, se determinó que el objeto no era un arma, sino una billetera grande. Durante todo el incidente se siguieron los procedimientos de seguridad para garantizar el bienestar de nuestros estudiantes y personal. Por precaución, nuestro campus vecino, Lloyd M. Bentsen Elementary, fue colocado en estado de Segurodurante este tiempo. El confinamiento en Palmview High School y el estado de Seguro en Lloyd M. Bentsen Elementary fueron levantados a las 4:52 p.m., luego de confirmarse que no existía ninguna amenaza para ninguno de los dos planteles.
