La Joya, TX - La Joya ISD continues to strengthen its commitment to preparing future-ready graduates through meaningful collaboration, hosting its second Career and Technical Education (CTE) Transformation Advisory Committee Meeting - monthly sessions that bring together educators, industry professionals, and community leaders for a dynamic and collaborative discussion focused on aligning CTE programs with workforce demands and expanding opportunities for students across the district.
Building on feedback from the initial March meeting, participants engaged in real-time conversations designed to move from insight to action - ensuring that every decision made directly supports student success and regional workforce needs.
Throughout the meeting, stakeholders reviewed key data and industry feedback that continues to shape the district’s CTE transformation plan. A major highlight of the session included a spotlight on the district’s Health Science pathway, which is being expanded to provide students with dual credit opportunities, industry certifications, and hands-on clinical experiences.
The advisory meeting also emphasized the importance of strong partnerships between education and industry. Participants explored ways to expand internships, mentorship opportunities, and hiring pipelines - ensuring students gain real-world experience while employers benefit from a skilled, work-ready talent pool.
“This work is about partnership,” said Melinda Flores, Executive Director of College & Career Success. “When educators, industry leaders, and our community come together, we can design learning experiences that truly prepare students for success beyond graduation. That collaboration is what makes our CTE programs stronger.”
This work directly reflects La Joya ISD’s commitment to Achieving Excellence Together: 2030, advancing Priority 2: Empowered Graduates by expanding real-world learning opportunities and aligning programs to high-demand careers. The collaborative nature of the advisory committee also supports Priority 4: Community Trust, Unity, and Partnership, strengthening connections between education, industry, and the community to better serve students.
La Joya ISD extends its sincere gratitude to the industry partners, educators, and community leaders who continue to invest their time, expertise, and support in this important work. Their collaboration plays a vital role in shaping meaningful opportunities for students and ensuring that La Joya ISD graduates are prepared to succeed in an ever-evolving workforce.
